Gli Hatfield and the North sono un gruppo rock-progressive della scena di Canterbury inglese fondato nel 1973 da Richard Sinclair (ex bassista dei Caravan) e formato, inoltre, da Phil Miller (chitarra solista), Pip Pyle (batteria), Dave Stewart (tastiere). Gli Hatfield and the North incidono ufficialmente due LP: Hatfield & the North (1974 - Virgin Records) e Rotters club (1975) per poi sciogliersi. Tre quarti (ovvero il gruppo tranne Sinclair) andranno a formare i National Healt
