I The Sounds sono un gruppo rock svedese nato ad Helsingborg, SW nel 1999 per opera di Felix Rodriquez e Johan Bengtsson, all'epoca compagni di scuola; i due ingaggiarono subito Fredrik Nilsson come battersta. Maja Ivarsson, eletta dalla rivista Belender "Hottest Women of ... Rock", dichiaratamente bisessuale, fu accolta nella band come cantante, mentre Jesper Anderberg (sintetizzatori) fu incontrato all'Hultsfred Festival. Il nome fu deciso pochi mesi dopo durante un viaggio a Londra.
