I Deep Puddle Dynamics nacquero nel 1998, e furono formati da Doseone, Slug e Sole al rapping e Alias, che fu il beatmaker e, anch'esso rapper. Nel 1998 Doseone e Sole convivettero a Minneapolis, dove, insieme agli amici Slug (proveniente dagli Atmosphere) e Alias, registrarono della musica: da queste sessioni nacque l'album "The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel"
