Doyle Bramhall (born 17 February 1949, Dallas, Texas[1]) is an American singer-songwriter and drummer, closely associated with the Music of Austin. He is often confused with his son, Doyle Bramhall II (who is also a singer, songwriter, and a guitarist). As a boy Bramhall would jam in the family garage with local children, including the future ZZ Top guitarist and bass player, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill. Bramhall joined The Chessmen with Jimmie Vaughan as a high schooler; the group opened for Jimi Hendrix when he played in Dallas.
