Phil Perry and Kevin Sanlin, members of the sweet soul group the Montclairs, released two Capitol albums -- For Those Who Love (1980), We’re the Winners (1981) -- paired on this Funky Town Grooves release. Only one song, “Just to Make You Happy,” reached the Billboard R&B chart, and neither album charted, yet there’s a decent quantity of sophisticated, occasionally funky, early-‘80s soul on display, with an eye-popping roster of producers and instrumentalists that includes the likes of Richard Evans
