
Janjay Lowe, known professionally as Mon Rovîa, is a Liberian-born Afro-Appalachian singer-songwriter who grew up in the United States. Janjay Lowe was born in Monrovia, Liberia. Around the age of seven, he was adopted by an American family. During his childhood, his family lived in Florida, Montana, the Bahamas, and Tennessee. He was first exposed to folk music while living in Chattanooga, Tennessee. As he developed an interest in music, he learned to play the ukulele, guitar, and other instruments.
