Born in 1975 in London’s East End to Jamaican parents, Marlon Hart, known as M-Beat, is the nephew of reggae legend Sly Dunbar. His father, Junior Hart, founded H Jam Productions in 1988 and later Renk Records in 1990 to release M-Beat’s music. M-Beat emerged as a key figure in the jungle genre, blending reggae, dancehall, soul, and breakbeats. M-Beat is celebrated for introducing jungle to mainstream audiences in the early 1990s.
