Detroit rapper Fmb Dz first gained major attention in 2017 with the release of his first mixtape I Ain't Gone Lie. Just 23 at the time of its release, the rapper had been active in underground circles in Detroit but had not released much music. The project was well-received globally and work began on a follow up mixtape as well as collaborate with other artists, as on the Joseph McFashion track Raw. That follow-up mixtape, Washington DZ, was completed in the summer of 2017
