The biography of Surganova & Orchestra (Сурганова и Оркестр) begins in December 2002, when one of the founders of Night Snipers (Ночные Снайперы) Svetlana Surganova (Светлана Сурганова) left the group, causing a great sensation in the press. In less than a year Svetlana rose very rapidly: she formed her own group of professional musicians from St. Petersburg, composed, recorded and released the debut album Can It Not Be Me (Неужели не я) in 2003.
