The Living Legends started with Sunspot Jonz (BFAP) and Luckyiam.PSC, from their group Mystik Journeymen, in the early 1990s. In 1994, they began to develop a large fan base from hosting the "Underground Survivors" shows (which were in the style of house parties) in East Oakland. They combined with the 3 Melancholy Gypsy's(3MG's), consisting of Eligh, MURS, and Scarub, and solo artists The Grouch, Aesop, and Bicasso. The Living Legends, a loose collective of MCs and DJs from the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area
